New Year, New You ?

It’s hard to believe January is here again. It’s a new year, welcome to 2022. I’m not going to write another article about “New Year, New You”. Full of grandiose exercise programs, diets, and how to change you into the person you see posted all over your Instagram feed. What I will ask you to do is to truly look at yourself. I’m not asking you to change, because you are beautiful just as you are. But if we look inward with honesty, we are able to grow into even more amazing people than we ever thought possible.

                The last two years have been hard on all of us. Our weak points have shown up strong in our lives because of the added stress we all have experienced. Many people fallen ill because they realize their immune system needs support. For those who have physically remained healthy, the psychological toll may be too heavy. For others, maybe they are living their best lives, and their purpose is just to show us that we can too!

                What I am trying to say is, we are all completely different. With bodies and minds that have different needs. That’s why I love what we do here at Garner’s Natural Life so much! We don’t try to give you the one size fits all diet and fitness routine that resulted in “Angela lost 25 pounds and feels great”. Rather we look at you and see what puzzle pieces are missing. What small changes can we tweak to result in better quality of life.

                We have such a knowledgeable staff here at Garner’s. Some of us with lifelong experience in natural medicine. Many of us with advanced degrees, such as Herbalism, Certified Natural Health Practitioner, Nursing, we even have a licensed Pharmacist here. We use all the education that we have gathered to help you choose what best fits your needs.

                If this year mentally was hard on you. We might suggest using an adaptogenic herb, one like Rhodiola, to help balance stress hormone. There are many studies on using fish oil, specifically EPA, to help with depression. One supplement that has many benefits through out the body is NAC. NAC is an amino acid and is short for N- acetyl- cysteine. NAC is a very interesting one because research has shown it to help with everything from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) to schizophrenia, support with addiction, and much more.

                If you have had physical illness this year NAC might be a good fit for you too. It is the precursor to glutathione in the liver. Which is one of the main antioxidants the liver makes to protect itself. We could honestly all use a little liver love because we are all surrounded by different toxins, some we may not even be aware of. Also Healthline.com states how “NAC can relieve symptoms of respiratory conditions by acting as an antioxidant and expectorant, loosening mucus in your air passageways”. Some studies show it can benefit everything from allergies to respiratory disease.

We have seen a huge surge these past two years in people taking supplements to boost their immune health. Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, and quercertin have been the main ones many people are taking.  

                These are all suggestions. As every body has its own individual needs. This New Year I encourage you to listen to yours. To feed it healthy food. Drink clean water.To move your body. To give your body rest. To listen to your body and listen for where there are needs that aren’t being met.
